What counts as an anagram here
An anagram uses every letter of the scramble once and no others. "listen" gives enlist, inlets, listen, silent and tinsel. The word you typed is included when it is in the list.
Word length is fixed by what you type, so nine letters can only return nine-letter words. To find shorter words, use the word finder instead.
Unknown letters
Type ? where a letter is missing. "sta?e" returns every five-letter word that contains s, t, a and e plus one more letter, in any order.
Why it is fast
Two words are anagrams exactly when their letters match once sorted. The tool counts letters rather than trying every arrangement, which is why 15 letters is as quick as 5. The anagram guide explains the idea with numbers.
