About Lettercraft
Lettercraft is a free set of word tools: a word finder, an anagram solver, wildcard search and a five-letter helper. What it does, its word lists and how it is paid for.
What Lettercraft does
Lettercraft helps with word puzzles and tile games. The word finder lists the words you can make from your letters, the anagram solver unscrambles them, the wildcard search matches patterns such as c?t*, and the five-letter helper narrows down a guess from the clues you have been given.
Everything runs in your browser. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no paid version. The site is available in English and Swedish.
Where the words come from
The word lists are not written by us. The English list is made from SCOWL, the English Speller Database by Kevin Atkinson. The Swedish list is made from SALDO's morphology, published by Språkbanken Text at the University of Gothenburg under the CC BY 4.0 licence. The method page names both licences and lists every filter we applied.
How it is paid for
Lettercraft is funded by a small number of clearly labelled ads that load only after you accept cookies. Ads never sit above the tool on a phone and never change the results.
Corrections
If a word is missing or should not be there, check the method page first: the lists are spell-checker lists, not tournament dictionaries. Problems with the tools, or anything else, can be sent to jonathan.holmlidh@gmail.com.
